Maserati began production of their historic line of luxury and racing cars in 1914, and since then have created an iconic history of impressive automobiles. It all began with the dream of four brothers in Bologna Italy in a small repair shop. Here are some of the best of their legacy:

The Alfieri

The Alfieri made its debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show and was named for one of the founding brothers. It is a 2+2 coupe with many design cues from the A6GCS. Production began in 2016, and the Alfieri utilizes a 4.7-liter V-8 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. The Alfieri gained lots of attention from its bold lines, not to mention the 454 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.

The A6GCS/53 Berlinetta

The Maserati A6GCS/53 Berlinetta was the first to use a Pininfarina design. It has the heart of a race car covered in a luxurious exterior. There were only four built, with the original design being an open-top racer. The wet weather during the Mile Miglia in 1953 changed their mind, and the Berlinetta was released as a hardtop.

The 3500 GT

First introduced in 1957, the 3500 GT remained in production until 1964. This was the first vehicle in the Gran Turismo line and was offered both in open and closed top versions. The 3500 GT features a low roofline and a 3.5-liter engine. It remains popular today with enthusiasts everywhere.

The 61 Tipo Birdcage

The 61 Tipo or Birdcage was designed to race both for speed and endurance. It featured lightweight construction, a rigid frame, and independent front suspension. The Birdcage name came from the 200-piece frame. It featured a 2.9-liter four-cylinder engine producing 250 horsepower and capable of 186 mph. It twice won the Nurburgring 1000 kilometer race.

The Ghibli

The Ghibli was designed by Giorgetto Glugiaro with a unique look setting it apart from other manufacturers and even other Maseratis. The original line was produced from 1967 to 1973 and featured a V-8 engine. It later returned with a twin-turbo V-6 in the late 1990s.
