Explore the GranCabrio's Exciting Performance
The all-new Maserati GranCabrio was introduced in the Trofeo trim level. This means it features the Nettuno engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine pumping out an exciting 542 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. This power translates to a top speed of 196 MPH and 3.3-second 0-60 time. A de-tuned version of the engine found in the high-performance Maserati MC20, the Nettuno engine is one of the most powerful in Maserati's lineup, originally designed for the GranTurismo. Power is sent from the Nettuno engine to an all-wheel drive system through an eight-speed automatic transmission that steering wheel paddle shifters can control. The GranCabrio comes with four drive modes that allow drivers to customize its performance. Its default setting is GT, while Comfort, Sport, and Corsa can be selected.
Design Elements of the New Maserati GranCabrio
As we mentioned before, the GranCabrio is based upon the legendary GranTurismo with the primary difference being the convertible roof. The GranTurismo's spyder variant, GranCabrio, features a fabric power-folding soft top. Maserati chose fabric over a hard top to take up as little trunk space as possible when it is folded. The top is controlled by a single button found on the center console, retracting the top in 14 seconds at driving speeds up to 31 MPH. Inside, Maserati continues the two-door, four-seat design that the GranTurismo does so well. Being a convertible, the GranCabrio maximizes comfort with what Maserati calls an "air scarf." This standard feature swirls warm air around the neck and head at three different speeds. Additionally, it provides a quieter, more comfortable ride when the top is down with a front seatback-mounted wind-stopper. The wind-stopper does this by reducing buffeting, the thumping you hear when the cabin air clashes with the outside air.
What Technologies Does the Maserati GranCabrio Offer?
Like the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio is packed with the latest in-vehicle technology. Atop the center stack sits a 12.3-inch touchscreen used for infotainment purposes. This touchscreen gives drivers access to Apple and Android smartphone integration without the use of a charging cable with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Meanwhile, a smaller 8.8-inch touchscreen is found just below it, handling the climate control settings. Behind the steering wheel, you'll see a 12.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, providing at-a-glance access to pertinent driving information. Meanwhile, even more convenient viewing of speed and navigation directions is available in the form of a head-up display. The GranCabrio's audio system is provided by Sonus Faber, an acclaimed Italian audio tuner featuring 13 speakers and 2D surround sound. Meanwhile, a High Premium audio system is optional, featuring 16 speakers, 3D and 3D surround sound programs, and a 1,195-watt amplifier. In addition to the impressive cabin technologies, the GranCabrio also uses advanced technology to keep occupants safe. The Cabrio features an array of standard and available driver assistance technologies, including but not limited to automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and more.
