2019 Maserati Levante
A levante is a wind blowing across the Mediterranean Sea which can switch from light winds to a gale in an instant. The 2019 Maserati Levante, first introduced in 2016, matches that description perfectly with the ability to explode with power in an instant. It is offered in four models: Levante, S, GTS, and Trofeo. In addition, base or S models can be trimmed from two styling packages; GranLusso or GranSport.
Two engines, both built by Ferrari in Maranello, power the Levante. The Levante and Levante S use a twin-turbo 3.0 liter engine with different ratings; the base engine develops 345 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque with 0-62 mph in 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 156 mph, and the Levante S engine develops 424 horsepower and a peak 428 lb-ft of torque in Sport mode with 0-62 in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 164 mph. The Levante GTS and Trofeo use a twin-turbo V-8 with different ratings; the GTS engine develops 550 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque with 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 181 mph, while the Trofeo engine develops 590 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque with 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph. The engines are mated to the 8-speed ZF gearbox with selectable modes of Auto Normal, Manual Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Sport, Manual or Auto Off-Road, ICE Increased Control and Efficiency, and Corsa on the Trofeo model. The Sport modes offer faster gear changes, open exhaust valves for optimum engine sound, enhanced accelerator response, and overboost to gain optimum torque at lower speeds. Integrated Vehicle Control gives the driver more dynamic control.
The exterior design of the Levante is muscular with hints of power and strength. The sculpted front grille with vertical chrome bars, strong arching front fenders, iconic triple air vents, and SUV stance coupled with a tapered rear section complete the look. Add to this the frameless windows, spoiler, and qual tailpipes and the overall look is completely and uniquely Maserati. There is the new Blue Nobile color to add to the palette choices. The interior of the Levante evokes the classic Maserati style with Italian flair, exquisite handcrafted elegance, and power available at your fingertips. There are the available Pieno Fiore hand-stitched natural leathers (standard on Trofeo) and genuine wood or metal net trims. With its SUV profile comes a 20.5 cubic foot cargo area aided by a 60/40 split rear seat and an available kick sensor for the power tailgate. There is a dual-zone or available quad-zone automatic climate control system with air quality sensor. New interior trims include open pore regimental with its wood veneer, matte carbon fiber weave which brings the Trofeo exterior carbon treatment to the interior, or a high-gloss metal weave adding a sporty feel based on contemporary architecture.
The GranLusso trim offers luxurious refinements with horizontal chrome features on the front fascia, rich silver accents on the front bumper and roof rails, GranLusso badges on each front fender, color-matched rear spoiler and other areas, 19-inch machine-polished Zefiro wheels, and gloss black brake calipers with white Maserati script. The seats are designed for comfort and incorporate 12-way power adjustment with memory, a choice of Ermenegilda Zegna silk or premium Italian leather, open-pore Radica wood, heated power-adjustable steering wheel, premium Harman Kardon audio system, advanced navigation, front and rear parking sensors, stainless steel door sills, and soft-closing doors.
The GranSport trim offers power and strength with features including an aggressive piano-black front grille and added lower grille, a new sport bumper, polished 20-inch Nereo covering gloss red brake calipers with white Maserati script, blue-accented Trident logo on the front grille, wheel hubs, and C-pillar inserts, sport front seats with 12-position adjustment and memory, power adjustable steering wheel with multi-function controls, aluminum paddle shifters, Inox sport pedals, and available carbon fiber trim. Many of these features are integrated seamlessly into the Levante GTS model.
Driver convenience and safety features abound in the Levante. Performance features include an active air suspension, Skyhook suspension system with electronic damping, Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive, electric power steering, electric air shutter to reduce drag, integrated vehicle control for improved driving dynamics, a 7-inch TFT for driver information, a 8.4-inch Maserati touch-control infotainment screen, and a choice of Harman Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins audio. Safety features include a highway assist system combining adaptive cruise control and stop/go control, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, active blind spot assist, 360-degree surround camera, forward collision warning plus, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear sensors, rearview camera, hill hold, hill descent control, stability control, tire pressure monitoring, available adaptive full LED headlights with automatic high beam control, and adaptive driving beam for optimum lighting at night.
