The 2018 Maserati GranTurismo is the perfect embodiment of Maserati grand touring excellence. With either the GranTurismo Sport or MC, the driver is in perfect harmony with the vehicle while enjoying the rich racing history of the Maserati DNA. With over 70 years of GranTurismo history starting with the A6 1500 GT Pinafarina in 1947 through the 3500GT prototype, Maserati continues to refine the marriage of racing performance and handcrafted luxury styling.
Offered as the Maserati GranTurismo Sport with its combination of power and luxury or the GranTurismo MC that represents Maserati's long racing heritage, the GranTurismo offers a driver the pinnacle of luxury performance grand touring. At the heart of the GranTurismo is the powerful 4.7 liter naturally aspirated V-8 gas engine developing 460 horsepower. Then Maserati adds features such as a lightweight yet strong carbon fiber bonnet with an aggressive centered intake and two auxiliary air vents, front spoiler, side skirts, and slots in the front bumper to create downforce at higher speed and help cool the brakes.
The interior refinement is classic Maserati - a motorsport-inspired interior with optional carbon fiber seat backs, Poltrona Frau leather and Alcantara upholstery, Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a new dashboard clock, dark and eco chrome styling on the doors and quarter panels, Easy Entry to the back seats with electric front seat adjusters, two individual rear seats with class-leading head and leg room, centered pull-down armrest, cup holders, and rear climate control vents. The 8.4-inch MTC+ infotainment system is centered above the climate controls, and along with its rotary controller, touch screen, or voice commands can configure the vehicle's main settings as well as interact with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto or other Bluetooth functions. Audio is supplied via a sophisticated Harman Kardon 900 watt system with 11 premium speakers.
Safety and driver convenience are key design criteria for Maserati, and the GranTurismo employs a variety of features. The Maserati Stability Program uses a combination of sensors to monitor the vehicle and activates different safety systems to keep the GranTurismo in control. Other features include anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, anti-slip regulation, advanced brake assist, adaptive light control for optimum view after dark, LED daytime running lights, rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring, and hydraulic brake assistance.
